What You Need To Know
?¨ The Tampa Port Authority will have a working Truck Exchange across the street from the Port in 2010, from which they will then be able to unload truck deliveries and then ferry the deliverables across Channelside Drive.
?¨ For the structure to be of additional value to the Port Authority, the levels above the truck exchange will contain Public Parking - becoming an extension to the Port Authority's Parking Garage - the structure that is presently adjacent to the location of the Truck Exchange.
?¨ Sentiment in the neighborhood is mixed, and when asked how development like this is and/or is not allowed - it is based on City Code.
?¨ City Code - is reviewed and enhanced twice each year by the elected seven officials on City Council that voting citizens of Tampa elect. It is their role to approve the City Code twice each year. City Council, along with City Staff and the City Mayor may propose the removing poor code and adding new code.
?¨ City Council through the City Code they have continual reviewed and voted as approved is what has brought this development, as well as all other development in the form we are going to have it to this neighborhood and all the neighborhoods in the City of Tampa
?¨ Channel District is one - if not the only neighborhood in Tampa, where City staff are required to engage the Neighborhood Residents twice each year regarding City Code and report this as enhancement proposals in the Bi-annual City Council Code Review.
?¨ Each March and September City Staff are given the Town Hall floor for that months Channel District Town Hall Meeting, to engage the residents as to City Code enhancements they would like to see, thus ensuring the proper development of the neighborhood.
