Neighborhood Matching Grants Program?– Application Deadline March 15, 2004


The City of Charlotte administers a Neighborhood Matching Grants Program for neighborhoods with median household incomes not exceeding $75,267. A map of eligible neighborhoods is attached.

Grant funding ranges up to $25,000. Neighborhood associations and neighborhood-based business associations may qualify if the majority of the members live or operate businesses in the neighborhood, and they have been organized and active for at least six months. Neighborhood-based community development corporations with at least one-third neighborhood representation on their boards may also be eligible to apply.

Eligible organizations may apply under four project categories:

(1) Neighborhood Improvement,
(2) Crime and Public Safety,
(3) Neighborhood Organizational Development,
(4) Neighborhood Educational, Recreational and Cultural Initiatives.

To apply, a representative from your organization must attend at least one of the pre-application workshops to be held on the following dates and locations.

February 3, 2004: Old City Hall, 600 E. Trade Street 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
February 10, 2004: Old City Hall, 600 E. Trade Street 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
February 17, 2004: Old City Hall, 600 E. Trade Street 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
February 21, 2004: Old City Hall, 600 E. Trade Street 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
