Leadership Training Program


The City of Charlotte Neighborhood Development Department offers leadership and capacity building training to neighborhoods through various initiatives, including the annual Neighborhood Symposium, the Neighborhood Summit, and Community University. The Community University curriculum provides a continuum of training that is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of residents, and thus the effectiveness of their neighborhood organizations. Organizations are encouraged to enroll five members in order to maximize the impact of the training. Topics include:


Local Neighborhood Initiatives
Successful Organizing for Neighborhoods
Developing Vision and Mission Statements
Communication and Conflict Management
Accessing Resources and Developing Partnerships
Problem Solving and Strategic Planning
