As the recently elected president of the new neighborhood association I would like to take this opportunity to say hello and brief you on the purpose, history and intent of our organization. We have banded together in order to create a safer, healthier place to live. We?’ve had two meetings, each with over thirty people participating. Our goals are focused on creating a better quality of life for us all.
Let?’s be clear from the beginning that there is no intent to invade anyone's privacy or restrict their freedom. We aren?’t concerned about the color of your house or any of the other nonsense that commonly defines the dreaded ?“Home Owner Association?”. We do care about what goes on in our neighborhood, our children and our health. Dust is a primary concern. Dust is a health hazard. We all chose to live here and know that some is inevitable. But then there are those local residents and workers in the area that persist in driving at unreasonable speeds and stir up ten times the dust of a vehicle going only 10-20 MPH. This is a residential neighborhood and kids could easily dart out from any street or tree. For that matter so could a cow. A suggestion to those folks who speed to work or school is to leave a couple of minutes earlier and enjoy the scenery, and it?’s less stressful to boot. Isn?’t that the whole idea of living the ?“rural lifestyle?”.
We are investigating doing a trial road project that involves putting a non toxic product, Soil Sement ?® on the dirt to harden it; to prevent potholes and reduce dust. Our initial target area will be one used by most everyone?– the area from the mailboxes to the SaddleBrooke Wash. And yes, Miraval will pitch in. For years the road has been maintained by generous individuals who used their own time and money to do the work for all of us. Our recent meetings pointed out that there needs to be a way for residents to compensate them for their work. That is another purpose of the Association. We will establish a PO Box and checking account and your donations can then be forwarded to them. (Please wait until we have a name and checking account to donate. We need to file government and bank forms after we have a registered name prior to depositing any money.) This will eliminate the excuse of ?“I never see who takes care of the road?”. For anyone that doesn?’t already know it, Edwin is not maintained by either Pima or Pinal County. We voted to contribute $100 per year as a base amount per homeowner. This is strictly voluntary. We know some people won?’t contribute. That?’s life. The concerned people who were at both meetings and five more who weren't have stated their support and willingness to go forward. More people are moving here all the time and like it or not, we are a community. Let?’s establish this organization and empower it to help us all make our lives safer, healthier and more fun.
Until next time... Have a Wonderful Day!
