Automobile Protection:
Over recent months, there have been additional neighborhood cars broken into and/or stolen. To take precaution against this, make sure to not leave the ignition key in your car, lock all doors and hatches plus remove any items of value. Relative to vehicle thefts, sometimes a physical deterrent like a steering wheel ?“club?” or brake pedal lock may provide additional protection to any other protective features a vehicle might have.
Inasmuch as the Lakewood Police Department already receives numerous calls for these types of theft with most only having minimal evidence, in many instances there isn?’t very much they can do to catch the perpetrator(s). However, to help in this regard, if any Charterwood Member observes suspicious persons in the area, on foot or in a car, endeavor to jot down a description of the individual(s) plus the make of vehicle they came in, vehicle color, license number and notify the Lakewood Police. Inasmuch as many of the suspicious vehicles seem to have only temporary tags, in those cases try to obtain the number and expiration date off of said tag. The Police may not be able to do much with the input but the data will remain in their record base. If a Homeowner is only somewhat suspicious of persons in the neighborhood, still try to obtain the same data and retain it for future reference/use. Hopefully with this information, there may eventually be a time where it can be used to help the police with correlation to an incident.
