The Chautauqua Park Neighborhood Association (CPNA) is working with Polk County scholars from the Iowa Community Health Leadership Institute on an asset mapping project.
Members of CPNA and scholars from the Institute have designed and are conducting a neighborhood survey to determine where the strengths and needs of our residents lie. Surveys are conducted on Saturday afternoons through March and April. Please take the time to talk with the surveyors when they visit your home, or simply fill out the survey and return it in the pre-addressed envelope.
Questions on the survey inquire about neighbors?’ skills or experience in various areas from gardening to cooking, community involvement to home improvement. There are also areas in the survey that invite comments regarding the questions and open-ended comments regarding concerns about and areas for improvement in the neighborhood. Comments about contractors, or advice for selecting a contractor, for various home improvement projects are encouraged. From these comments, CPNA intends to compile a list of recommended contractors to share with neighbors. The CPNA board hopes that the results of the survey will illuminate strengths and common interests among neighbors, as well as needs that the neighborhood association can work to meet. The board then hopes to design a project or projects in which neighbors can share their talents or experience and, at the same time, work to meet needs in the neighborhood. Please fill out the survey honestly and as completely as possible and return it by April 20. If you have any questions about the survey or have not received one, please e-mail cpnanews@yahoo.com, or call Jan Johnson, Jessica Clark, or Shirley Shaw at the numbers listed on page 2 of this newsletter.
