December Meeting and Christmas Party

Mark your calendar now for our next meeting which will be on December 19, 2012 at the Okolona Fireehouse on Preston Street.  The meeting starts at 7 PM and will be very short.  The main purpose of the meeting is to join in our annual Christmas  Party.  There will be good BBQ Pork coming from the restaurant on Shepheredsville Rd owned by one of our very own residents.  He is very generous in providing some of the meal accessories free of charge.  We are asking mebers to bring a dessert.  Remember some sugar free desserts for our diabetic members.  I hope to hold a Board meeting at 6 pm, same location.  Our Board meetings are open to the public so members interested in the Board function are welcome to come early and observe your Board in action.  The Okolona Fire Department will give us a short demonstration on fire extinguishers and their use in our homes.  This is important information, expecially around the holidays with all the additional fire hazards associated with Christmas trees, cold weatheer, fireplaces and oil heaters.

In addition a teacher and a couple of students from Southern High School will be mingling with the members to find out what you would like to see in our newsletter.  Can we use it more effectively to encourage members to come to meetings.  Or, should we leave it like it is.  I think this is a good way for us to reach out to Southern High School and provide a leaning opportunity to the Journalism students and an equally good way for us to get some good ideas on how to make our newsletter even better.

So come and have an interesting and entertaining evening with a chance to hob nob with your neighbors.  There will be a 50-50 drawing, and good food.
