WHAT TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION REQUIRE A PERMIT IN VIOLET TOWNSHIP?

Residential Construction

New Single Family Homes
Accessory buildings, including:
Detached garages
Sheds
Pole Barns
Gazebos
Other Accessory Buildings
Additions, alterations or renovations to Buildings
Decks
Porches
Swimming Pools & Hot Tubs (above ground, in-ground, outdoor, indoor, inflatable, etc.)
Exterior Slabs (patios, ect.)
Fireplaces
On-site private well and septic systems (obtained from Fairfield County Health Department)
Fire/Security detection systems (alarm owner’s permit from local law enforcement agency and installer’s permit)
Sidewalk (new, replacement, driveway widening, sidewalk program, new driveway approach, approach replacement)
Commercial Construction

Commercial Structures: both new and alterations and additions to existing structures
Signs, including:
Wall mounted signage
Ground or free standing signs
Awning or canopy signage
Face replacement
Subdivision Signage (either temporary sales sign for entire subdivision or permanent entry sign)
Billboards and other outdoor advertising structures
Parking Lots
Telecommunications Towers & Antennae
Fire Suppression Systems:
Sprinkler systems
Hood suppression systems
On-Site well and septic systems if public services are not available (obtained from Ohio EPA)
Residential/Commercial

Major electrical work (residential/commercial, addition/alteration, replacement/repair, temporary service, new service, hot tub, mobile home service)
HVAC/Refrigeration Systems
Plumbing: new or changes to existing plumbing system
Fire /Security detection systems (alarm owner’s permit from local law enforcement agency installer’s permit)
Certificates of Occupancy
Demolition, removal of structures
Right-of-Way Permits

Any work requiring digging within the right of way to include but not limited to the following:
Culverts
Curb installation and replacement
Sidewalk installation and replacement
Drainage tile installation in right-of-way on Township road right-of-ways
Driveway approaches, installation or replacement
