IS OUR EMAIL FOR US OR BRADLEY?

I just received an email (found below) from our Circle C Info Center. The message was for foreign exchange students who want to swim on Bradley's Swim Team and need housing. As well as the Swim Team's need for office space (since Susan Hoover kicked them out of the Child Development Center - that was the office for some time).

Has our Email communication system turned into a free classified ad for Bradley's Swim Team?

The question is: If Bradley's (for profit) Swim Team can use the email system that we the homeowners pay for, why can't residents send out important messages as well?

Or, If Bradley's (for profit) business can use it to send out messages, then why can't any residents for profit business use it?

Or should the email system be used for official Circle C HOA business only?
-------------------
(THE EMAIL IN QUESTION) Circle C Swimming has two requests for housing assistance and a need for immediate office space. Please review and let us know if you can help!

First, we have been contacted by the Polish Swimming Federation. They have a young woman who would like to come to Austin to train with Circle C Swimming. The young girl is 16 years old, speaks English fluently, and is an excellent swimmer. Her family is willing to pay $500 per month for room and board in addition to her swimming fees.

We have also been contacted by a young man from Mexico who would like to come to Circle C Swimming to train for the next year. He was here for a weekend in June and everyone liked him. He was polite, respectful, fluent in English, and fun to have around. The family will pay for room and board in addition to the swimming fees.

If you are interested in having a foreign exchange student this would be a perfect opportunity to house a hardworking student.

The Team is also in immediate need for office space. We have been asked to vacate our office space in the Child Development Center to make way for additional teachers. If you have any ideas or know of any space that might be available, including, vacant homes or a home without residents for several months, etc. please let us know as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Stop Thinking!!!!!

Dear Mr. Costello:

When are you ever going to learn? The squatters on the board (SOB) have delegated to Denise Nordstrom and Susan Hoover the right and power to use that list for the benefit of Circle C Ranch, however that benefit is to be characterized. That means, my dear, dim-witted friend, in whatever manner they find useful for accomplishing whatever they want to accomplish. Now, is that really so hard to understand?

Take another look at the example you cite. They are only trying to make sure that the revenue from two additional sources (Mexico and Poland) is not lost at a time when Gary's bankruptcy is bringing other sources of funds under such scrutiny. This is the very essence of ''Circle C business,'' can't you see?

Susan Hoover apparently needs the space at the Child Development Center so she has used her mailing list, uh, I mean the Circle C Ranch mailing list, to find appropriate accommodations to ensure continuity in Gary's cash flow. Circle C business, plain and simple.

Stop THINKING!!!!! You have been repeatedly warned by the SOB loyalists (who, ironically, use this forum to post their opinions although the SOB has passed a resolution demanding that it be shut down) to do so. Change yourself into a good Stepford, uh, I mean Circle C resident, and get with the program. Apparently this place was GREAT before the likes of you and me came here and started complaining about such things.

Learn and adopt the loyalist slogan: ''The SOB know best.'' Repeat it over and over and soon you will believe it. Dissent is not welcome here. Do not dissent. Other opinions are not welcome here. Keep your ideas to yourself. Best yet, STOP THINKING.

Effect on Tax Exempt Status?

This is a question for those versed in tax law. Is it legal for a not-for-profit organization to provide rent/lease for a for-profit organization? Doesn't this interfere with the tax exempt status?

I ask this because the Child Development Center is a not-for-profit organization and the email from a representative of Circle C Swimming (a for-profit organization) states ''We have been asked to vacate our office space in the Child Development Center to make way for additional teachers.'' Would this be a violation on the tax exempt status?

And how about CCHOA (a not-for-profit organization) providing the pool to Circle C Swimming?

And CCHOA providing advertising space via our newsletter and emails to Circle C Tennis, Circle C Landscaping, Circle C Golf....? You get the picture? All of these for-profit businesses are supported by our not-for-profit homeowners association. Does this effect our tax exempt status?

Whaddaya know...

Good catch Sal.

It didn't occur to me this morning as I
cleared this out (along with the rest
of the spam), but you are exactly right
about this.

After the June hearing, I recall an
update from the HOA saying they
would continue to fight the Judge's
order to release the email list,
essentially to protect the homeowners'
privacy. This seems hypocritical
to me in light of this recent
swim-spam.

I re-visited the official site, and
when signing up for email, one can
select which messages to receive. I
checked the swim center/swim team box,
mostly so I could get notices about
pool closings (often due to swim team
events). So I guess I asked for it.
:-(

How long until the first post that says
''Stop whining, just delete it if you're
not interested!''?
