I am interested to know if Circle C residens are concerned about tolls on Mopac between William Cannon and 290. That was described as a real possibility within the front page Statesman article on Tues, April 13th and associated TxDot/CTRMA presentation. I am of the opinion that it should not be tolled and am looking for an idea if others feel similarly.

No Toll betweenWilliam Cannon290

I do not believe there will be ''tolls on Mopac between William Cannon and 290'' as you said.

The Statesman said:

''...an extension of Loop 1 (MoPac Boulevard) that would intersect Texas 45 North.''

That is a road that does not currently exist.

Yes! Quote from article.

From the Statesman article 4/13/2004, page A11, first column: ''...Other highways in the plan: (4th bullet) A short segment of MoPac running from U.S. 290 West to just south of William Cannon Boulevard, including two ''direct connect'' bridges where MoPac meets U.S. 290. That last project, at a cost of $8.3 million, is already under construction using tax dollars, as is the $43.8 millon upgrade of Texas 71 from I-35 to Riverside Blvd. and a $59.5 million section of U.S. 183 from I-35 to Springdale Road. The prospect of building a road project with tax dollars and then imposing tolls on it caused an uproar last year when the state Transportation Department proposed doing that on U.S. 183 in Northwest Austin. But that road was just a few months from opening when the toll plan surfaced, while the three current projects under the new plan are earlier in the construction state.'' This is also very clear in the CTRMA/TxDOT presentation. It can be found at http://www.campotexas.org/ (Capital Area Metro Planning Organization's web site) from link titled ''CTRMA/TxDOT Proposed Regional Implementation''. It is interesting to browse regardless of how a person feels about tolls.

gc4cc,

Thanks for the information about the section you originally talked about.

I don't think I have an issue about a NEW road being a toll (if it is true that they cannot fund the road otherwise). But, I'm open to listen to all sides of the issue.

I would have a huge problem with a toll on any current road, which is what I thought your first post suggested on Mopac.
