An email message from the president of the Circle C Home Owners Association (CCHOA),
Mr. Quentin Fennessy:
---------------------------------------------

Hi Neighbor-

Bad News: The 2004 AISD bond does not ( yet ! ) include funding for the middle school for Southwest Austin.

Unfortunately the Citizens Bond Advisory Committee and AISD Board of Trustees have ignored their own figures and guidelines for new school construction.

The AISD population figures show that Paredes and Bailey middle schools will be severely overcrowded by 2008--even more crowded that other areas in AISD that will get new schools. AISD proposes to solve this problem by bussing kids to other South Austin middle schools. Solution Please email the AISD board of trustees today at
Trustees@austin.isd.tenet.edu

and

The AISD Superintendent Pascal (Pat) Forgione at Superintendent@austin.isd.tenet.edu and urge them to include construction money for a new southwest Austin middle school. Please tell them that your support for the 2004 bond package is contingent on all kids in all areas of AISD being treated fairly and equitably.

The leverage we have is our votes. AISD needs our votes to pass the bond. We need a middle school.

What Else Can You Do?

You can also contact these trustees especially Valdez and Fitzpatrick via phone and ask for their support:

Doyle Valdez 502-1007 (at-large, should be representing us) ?·
John Fitzpatrick 323-6773 ext 110 (at-large, should be representing us) ?·

Johna Edwards 837-5488 ?·

Ave Wahrmund 467-8554 ?·

It's YOUR turn !

I have done all I know how to do.

If you can think of something else, I'd like ot hear from you.

I have no kids

I support schools and I use their facilities all the time. Schools are community resources, not only for education, but for neighborhood meetings, voting, recreation, and after school programs.

Now it's YOUR turn.

If you agree that we need this new Middle School, then YOU have to do something this week (NO, not next week, THIS WEEK).

Start calling. Using the phone is easy. The phone numbers are already provide (see post above).

You CCHOA board has gone to all the hearing, testified, pleaded, and even gone out an challenged the AISD data. They were RIGHT. The new data proves we need the new middle school now, not in 10 years from now.

Start calling today.

Send in emails, too.

Resolve to vote on the bond package on September 11th, too!

Your VOTE counts more for the bond election than for anything else in your daily lives.

VOTE FOR YOU KIDS, if not your property values. We need the school NOW - otherwise, they will be spending a lot more time in traffic, sittling on school busses going to less crowded schools in NORTH AUSTIN.

Your kids can't vote
