Irrigation Repair Funding and Procedures (July 2005)

Thank you if you have already contributed to the cost of the latest irrigation repair. Otherwise, please send or deliver $37 as soon as possible (see address below). The bill needs to be paid. Any extra money will be used to buy plates for the standpipe north of Lynwood and 26th.

For the past several years, we have been helping resolve irrigation issues. Money is only collected for specific repairs that affect everyone. Unfortunately, people who have NOT helped with the recent irrigation repair have been posting notes about it on the irrigation signup board. From now on, our postings will be computer generated and stamped. Our stamp has 6 Southwest elements on it. Please let us know if you see an unstamped post or anything handwritten or attached to the post. If you see a shutdown notice from RWCD, please call us ASAP.

Please call us if you have an irrigation problem. Do NOT post your problem on the board. RWCD does NOT make repairs to the irrigation line. They also do NOT inform us when a decision is made to shut down. By contacting us, we may be able to make rapid repairs and avoid shut-down.

The average number of contributors to each repair collection is 36. We are now at peak usage. The next time you are at the board, count the number of people who actually sign up for water. Our board?’s number of actual irrigation users has been decreasing over time, which means there are fewer people to split the cost of repairs. With the help of unpaid, volunteer welders, we have been making repairs for the cost of materials whenever possible. The irrigation system is old and has been seriously abused. Modifications to one of the lines has adversely impacted the system. When people don?’t take their water, it has to go somewhere else. Please help prolong the life of our irrigation system by taking all your water.
