Cleanliness

Posted in: Summit View Meadows

Hello,

We were asked by our landlords to please move our trash can so it's out of sight, because they were going to be fined by the HOA.  That's fine. We moved it. However, what about all the other trash cans I see in front of people's homes and our neighbor who has two trailers and a bunch of trash in his driveway? He also has a truck which is always parked halfway in the street.  There is also a jeep with a broken windshield and a tow rope attached to the front of it which is parked halfway into the street. That is very unsightly. What is the HOA doing to address that? It really seems like we are being discrimated against. My husband owns his own business and has one trailer which is in very good shape, yet people want to complain. How about cleaning up the whole neighborhood then!

We apologize for the delay in responding.  There were some issues with us being able to reply.  On October 23rd more than 20 violation notices were sent out.  Thank you for complying with the request to screen your trash cans.  The Board is pursuing fines with the larger issues and also code enforcement complaints have been filed with the City of Grand Junction (one of which I believe is the property you are addressing).  The Jeep is gone.  There is a lengthy process in order to pursue fines but hearings are being held this week and next week.  The Board is also getting ready to send out the Annual Meeting notice and will address trash cans on a neighborhood basis in that notice as it takes weeks and weeks of hearings in order to get the ones that are not complying fined.  The Board will pursue fines for trash cans after the holidays if people are still non compliant after the Annual Meeting notice is sent.  The Board is definitely trying to clean up the entire neighborhood even if it means filing additional compliants with the City of Grand Junction.  Thank you for your input.

Thank you for your reply. I did notice the jeep is gone. My only complaint about the trash cans being in the back yard is it will be difficult for me to pull it out in the snow. I will figure something out. About the house I was referring to with the trash and trailers. It looks like he started moving things but all activity stopped about a week or so ago. His truck is in the middle of the street along with all the trash. We did find out that he is in jail on domestic violence charges. This means we get to look at the trash that much longer. Thank you.
