Speed Bumps
All of your ideas have valid points. However, The fact remains that people who don't slow down for speed bumps will not slow down for rumble strips. And if rumble strips are installed how do you propose to plow snow without ripping the VERY expensive plastic strips or the asphalt.
I work in the transportation industry and I wrestle with the same problems that some of you are encountering. My only suggestion is to lead by example.

Write to Terry Spence
I wrote to Terry Spence asking for more speed bumps on Providence; who forwarded it on to the appropriate parties. I suggest that more people do the same. The more people bringing it up, the more they will move on the matter. Right now is a good time to bring it up because they are looking to improve the roads.

Speed Bumps
What are more speed bumps going to accomplish? If these ''speeders'' do not care about the speed limit why do you think they care about the undercarriage of their car? Have you looked at the sides of the road where the bumps are located presntly. People drive through the grass not to slow down!
More speed bumps will just make it more of a hassle for normal drivers. I understand that Terry Spence will aid you in getting things done, but don't you think that The Speaker of the House's time should be better allocated than debating more speed bumps?
