The City of Columbus Division of Sewerage & Drainage has engaged the services of Metcalf & Eddy to study Clintonville's sewer system. Formally there are two separate studies underway at this time:
CIP 405.2 Clintonville Sewer System I/I Remediation
CIP 405.5 Walhalla Sewer System I/I Remediation
The Clintonville area experiences street flooding, yard flooding, and water-in-basement problems during heavy rains. The water found in basements is attributed to both the stormwater and sanitary sewer system defects in the area. As such, the City will perform an extensive investigation of the causes of these problems and necessary improvements.
Participation of Clintonville residents and property owners will ensure engineers and field crews understand the area's problems. It is important that the affected community understand how and why the problems occur and the necessary steps to correct them.
There will be noticeable presence of City crews in the area; inspecting manholes, surveying to verify sewer locations and elevations, smoke testing sewers, and televising sewers. The City may need to enter individual priorities to determine where foundation drains and/or roof leaders discharge. The City will strive to keep residents aware of the extend, timing, and location of our field work. Public meetings will be conducted at the completion of the field work to discuss our findings and strategies to solve identified problems.
