Clintonville Area Commission

Clintonville Chair Report

This column is designed to give you a brief view from the Chair position of the Clintonville Area Commission. I will give a quick overview of current initiatives and seek your input. So, here we go.

CAC District Election Results:
Thank you to everyone who voted in the 1999 CAC elections. Commissioners for districts one, two and nine were elected.

District 1: Brian Rothenberg is elected (13 votes).

District 2 : Sandy Simbro is elected (13 votes).

District 9 : Paul Carringer is elected (35 votes).

As a grassroots organization, we take our role as a voice of the people very seriously. Every Commissioner is responsible for hearing and understanding the needs of the district they represent. Let us know what you believe the challenges to be on the street where you live. And, give us your ideas to solve the problems you see.

MORPC Morse/Bethel Connector Final Report

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, in association with Burgess & Niple, Limited, has released the Final Report for the Morse/Bethel Connector Study which was undertaken from July 30 through October 22, 1998.

The purpose of this study was to present "unbiased data about a Morse/Bethel connector to assist the citizens of Columbus in making an informed decision in November." An initiative placed on the November, 1998 ballot a proposal that called for the city to build a bridge over the Olentangy River and connect Morse and Bethel Roads through Rathbone Avenue.

Chapter topics include:
Public Involvement Process; Alternatives; Overview of Evaluation Process; Land Use and Economics; Environmental Analysis; Traffic; Neighborhood/Social; Cost of Construction/Right-of-Way Acquisition/Relocation; Public Policy; Summary of Alternatives; MORPC Recommendation; and
Next Steps.

For those of us who went through the process of the study, the report is familiar. For those who did not have the opportunity but who are interested in the issue and its debate, this document is interesting and eye opening.

For more information about the Final Report, contact MORPC at 228-2663.

Thank you for visiting the Web site for the Clintonville Area Commission. We welcome your input and involvement.
