CART accomplishments over the past year include:
CART's work with KY Transportation Cabinet which led to the
Environmental Protection Agency's insistance that the Federal
Highway Administration evaluate the full impacts of widening I-71
to 8 lanes;
CART's reintroduction of alternative transportation into the Ohio
River Bridges Study, securing a commitment by the consultants
to conduct a multimodal cross-river study;
CART's work with neighborhoods which led to the formation of a
broad-based community coalition requesting alternative
transportation be explored in lieu of widening I-64 through
Cherokee Park;
CART's work with Butchertown & Phoenix Hill neighborhoods which
led to a movement to limit the reconfigured Spaghetti Junction's
intrusion into urban neighborhoods;
CART's serving on Governor Paul Patton's Smart Growth Task Force
Transportation Committee;
CART's hiring an Executive Director;
the role played by CART's Board members in the founding of the
Bus Rider's Union of KentuckIana (BRUKI);
CART's continued support og TARC's light rail & Amtrak's
passenger rail efforts.
