Remember with all this cold weather- do not run your cars with the keys in it or you will be inviting a stolen car or a joy ride. I even erred in leaving the car unlocked the other nite with those threatening frozen rain and paid with kids rustling thru for change and a single dollar bill had put aside for coffee...better to take a shot at frozen doors than the 52 pickup of stuff all over..

Dear Arthur and friends,

Are there situations in which neighbors make it easier for suspects to break into homes?

Just a few ideas on how to prevent break-ins:

1.  Are the bushes trimmed in front of home windows?  Can ones home be noticed from the street?  Within reason, neighbors should know what is going on at your home.  Is the plasma TV or any other valuables noticeable from the front window?

2.  How high are the stockade or privacy fences?  Although I have owned a six foot privacy fence for years, I hate them.  The high fences makes it too easy for neighbors not to notice what is going on at the back of ones home.

3.  Move police precincts into neighborhoods such as Woodlawn, Oak Hill, Fairlawn, Darlington, and Pleasant View.  Put the precincts in doughnut shops.  This idea will give police incentive to acquaint themselves with neighbors.

Peace,

Jim

Jim- you are talking about a lot of the basic principles of CPU...Community Policing Units that was put forth in the textbook written by Dr. Trojanowicz and who I was fortunate to be an award recipient from his NE community police efforts.

Some of these things we all know within and we should say DUH! We are all human and we sometimes forget or need the reminders to go back on track, but as we are all in this together, maybe our party tomorrow will not only show the potluck pride from so many, but the ideas and new friendships and partnerships that may start or restart from 1-4pm at Blackstone Academy

We know there may be a snow shower, but we are tough and will make it to 334 Pleasant Street, just across from the park....

And all the extra food goes to the St Paul's shelter...
