Why can 't youth help others?

Posted in: NAP- Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket

Many of the sidewalks covered with snow are elderly neighbors who can not o it physically or can not afford it.

Can't the kids do a good neighbor bit by helping clear neighbors that they know of or even those that they discover or are referredto...

Wasn't the city supposed to fine folks like the slumlords who don't do it ? They must have a list of those who need help!

Dear Jimmy,

What appears to be really hard to believe about the icy streets in East Pleasant View would be the lack of clearance of the sewer openings.  Neighbors who do not clear the sewers on south Tweed Street, near Central Avenue, have made walking and traveling on the road very difficult.

Jimmy, you are correct that children who are able should shovel their neighbors sidewalk.  However, how many elderly people are now afraid of teenagers.

Nevertheless, you do focus on several interesting points about the perils of New England winters.

Peace, Jim

Maybe we need to mend the intergenerational concerns and develop a progrma with the senior center, police and the NAP to help develop a better quality of life for all of us in Pawtucket.
