Dear Arthur and friends,

I ponder the idea that with so many women today choosing not to marry or fathers not available  to keep the home secure, will Fathers Day on Sunday, June 21 someday become an extinct day as did Flag Day, Childrens Day, and Grandparents Day?   I do not dare ask some teens as to the whereabouts of their paternal unit as the children would not know.

Neighbors, what are your ideas on the possible demise of Fathers Day?

Peace,

Ludlow1

I think it will be like Mother's Day celebrating all women and not just mothers. Men and Women are positive models for all sexes.

We too have celebrated all genders of all ages whether Moms or Dads whether it was our kids, cousins, aunts and uncles of all ages as setting a positive force for all...yes special recognition for Moms and Dads as they both enjoy and suffer thru the parenting process and rewards!

I believe Father's are more into the lives of children today than ever before in my life time.  Father's know more about their children.  Fathers do more things for and with their children.  That said.  I believe Father's day could become extinct if it doesn't produce hugh revenue for the merchants.  If there is not enough revenue, there is no money to sponsors in the media, which results in little or no advertising.  Therefore masses recognizing Father's and not spending enough money will result in the holiday not receiving media recognition.  And we all know, if the media is not on board, for good or bad, Father's day "the Holiday" could become extinct!
