October 14, 2010

Dear Arthur and friends,

The Food Pantry at St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran, 690 Newport Ave., Pawtucket has been in operation for 15 years.  In a humane, non-intrusive way, our pantry serves anywhere from 700-1900 clients per month from October 2009-now.  Our clients receive protein goods, fresh vegetables and other staples.

Our pantry staff has noticed a change in September and October as the number of needy Pawtucket residents using our pantry increased from 700 in August to over 1,000 in September.  Our closets are becoming empty.

Through the graces of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the pantry obtains its food for 13 cents per pound.  However, the RICFB cannot provide all we need.

What we are asking the Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket are donations of breakfast cereals, all sizes, canned protein, and non perishable goods.

For verification of this letter, please contact Pastor Cheryl Larsen Lawing at (401) 723-5632 or e-mail her at pastorclc2001@verizon.net or contact Jim Matuszek at (401) 728-1091 or jamesmatuszek@cox.net.

Thank you for your kindness, consideration and patience.

Respectfully,

James Matuszek

We will put our heads together for a successful solution. There is also a store that has offered some of its overstocks to go to you as well.
