Mission: To identify, coordinate, and build on local, state and national resources to support family caregivers caring for disabled children, youth, adults and seniors. To support improved access for family caregivers to information and education. To ensure access to quality, affordable respite breaks for caregivers, both planned and emergency. To support employers and their workforce who are caregivers. And to raise public awareness about the issues faced by family caregivers in Rhode Island.
The Family Caregiver Alliance of Rhode Island is comprised of agencies, providers, advocates, caregivers themselves and concerned Rhode Islanders who seek to provide a public voice that affirms the value of family caregivers and advocates for their needs.
We do this through:

Regular meetings, bringing together those with needs and those who can assist

Hosting an informative and up to date web site at www.rifamilycaregiver.org

Developing and supporting training for a quality respite care workforce

Providing policy recommendations and advocating for change

Sponsoring an annual November 1st recognition event to celebrate National Family Caregiver Month
On behalf of the estimated 214,000 Rhode Islanders serving as family caregivers, The Family Caregiver Alliance of Rhode Island is asking all gubernatorial candidates in Rhode Island to:

Recognize and support the importance and value of caregivers;

Address the impact on RI businesses caused by Long Term Care Giving

Support a platform that will include:

Expanded resources for respite (a temporary break to relieve caregiver duties)

A mandate to improve information and access to services for caregivers
