Rugby/Columbia Park Field Update
Metropolis Rugby Club, playing at Columbia Park, is in the thick of the fall season and is undefeated in league play. They are coming off of a recent dominating 32-7 victory against the East Side Banshees. In a year where many veterans are stepping back from full time involvement with the club and others are resting injuries, a very young team has stepped up to the challenge and is showing a great deal of promise. Important upcoming home matches at Columbia Park include a match October 26th (tentative 1PM start time) as well as the National Collegiate Sweet Sixteen Tournament on Saturday October 26th and Sunday October 27th, which is hosted by Metropolis. Four men?’s and four women?’s collegiate teams from around the Midwest will be vying for a trip to the Midwest Final Four, and ultimately to the National Final Four. Matches will begin that Saturday at approximately 9AM and continue until about 5PM, including the Metropolis match. Matches will begin again on Sunday October 27th at about 9AM and will continue until about 3PM. There will be concessions and gear available, as well as exciting rugby on the field.
