Big Bear Farms

Appreciative Response

I Appreciate the information given by the poster who has been accused of being a ''know it all''. They obviously do know something. If you read the Local Paper you can see that they are right on. It seems Giant Eagle was never even supposted to remove the Big Bear on the Silo?

Hirsch

I'm not sure of the spelling, but a guy named Hirsch took over Big Bear Supermarkets in a hostile takeover and then began to run it in to the ground, after he had paid himself a hefty wage.
I don't think it had anything to do with Wayne Brown. Sorry about the ADD comment.
Hirsh Fact

Gary Hisch was the CEO of Penn Traffic, and yes they ( Penn Traffic ) not Hirsch did buy out Big Bear. It was not a hostile takeover from what I have read. Big Bear had financial issues and Penn Traffic Bailed them out. They tried to make Big Bear like other Super Stores.

All of this info is available to anyone who can go to Google. Just type the name and the concern ie: Hirsch Big Bear Supermarkets.

OK about ADD.
Please read

I have read your conversations about the origin of Big Bear Farms. I grew up in Columbus, was a friend of Wayne Brown and know of the origin and history of the company. The land ownership records are public record and available at the Delaware County Courthouse. The original farmhouse was torn down a few years ago, facing Powell Rd, just w. of Chase Bank. Please think twice before posting these petty conversations, they are available on the internet for anyone to see. Potential buyers for our homes look at this information and this affects our property values. All of these postings sound so angry. My home is my largest investment & I dont' appreciate your name calling.
