The Compressed Calendar Implementation Committee has made available to the public its major documents. The website is http://webboard.paccd.cc.ca.us
For an outsider they are very difficult to interpret, but interesting bits of information can be gleaned from reading them. Here is a small sample:
"3.1: Sabah had hoped Deans would get Winter rolled schedule, like Fall 2003, on 12/2/02, but Dale reported that that had not been requested and could not be done. Instead, Deans received two paper copies of the Fall 2003 rolled schedule, and marked one as Winter. Deans will delete classes that will not be offered in either term from both copies; they will delete offered classes that cannot fit into the 16-week Fall from the Fall copy and retain many of them in the Winter copy; they will add any new classes to one or both terms; and they will make changes in meeting rooms, times, and instructors as needed. In the meantime, MIS is ready to set up the Winter database on request, and Instruction will enter the data from the Deans?’ paper work-ups (Dale 12/9/02).3.1: One-time roll from Fall 2003 to Winter 2003 (needed since there is no existing Winter term) will incorporate programming logic to make necessary modifications in weeks-duration, etc. (Dale 11/4/02). Paul Visick has already done analogous programming in roll from Fall 2002 to Fall 2003 (Matthew 11/4/02).3.1.1: For this first year, at least, Instruction will treat Winter as an extension of Fall, and use the same section number range (Dale 12/9/02).3.2: Paul V. has made corrections, and Sabah will request new roll during week of 11/18, to make sure it works before Deans need to begin review. Deans are now working on Summer 2003 schedule (Sabah 11/13/02). Sabah: Status?3.2: Finals schedule for Fall 2003 has been adopted by the Board; it reduces the number of exam days to six per semester (Matthew 11/13/02).3.2: All Deans have submitted Fall 2003 data on paper to Instruction. 3.2: Instruction is still on schedule for distribution of the first Fall 2003 schedule workup to the Deans, including resolution of most room conflicts, by December 2. Sabah: Status? Additional deadlines per Sabah 10/16/02:1/24: First workups and footnotes due in Instruc.3/14: Dist. of second workups to Deans.4/7: Second workups due in Instruc.4/28: Dist. of galleys to Deans.5/1: Changes due in Instruc.5/7: Dist. of final galleys to Deans.5/12: Final changes due in Instruc.3.3 Major progress: Historically, M-FTEs shown in Load Report and Department Break Reports have not matched. Sabah has worked with Jeff Laun and Paul Visick to correct the Department Break logic, and now has audit reports to identify major inconsistencies. Sabah believes that the underlying data of both reports are correct, but Dale confirmed with Jeff that the source of the inconsistencies was logic rather than data. Intent is to move from manual to automatic calculation of M-FTE (Sabah 11/4/02)."
