The first annual Neighborhood Hero Award was established in 1997 by the Com-Link Board in order to honor those residents of Santa Ana who have shown commintment and enthusiasm toward improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Since then, many exceptional individuals have received this award and were subsequently recognized for their efforts by the Santa Ana City Council at a formal ceremony held in the Council Chambers.
The award schedule is as follows:
April 1 - Deadline for submission of nominations
April 7 - Selection of award recipients
May 12 - Awards Ceremony
