On behalf of the staff at the Rancho Cordova Neighborhood Center (RCNC), we send you greetings and extend an invitation to become involved. Thanks to the vision, dedication, and diligence of community members and supporting agencies, the RCNC is successfully funtioning pilot project with the exciting potential of serving as a national model. Our goal is to offer "one-stop" proactive/preventative social services to individuals and families. What makes us different is that we work collaboratively with different agencies in order to bring a variety of services to the community in one convienent location. The last few months at the RCNC have brought a lot of new activity and new development. The center currently hosts the following five suites, each offering a variety of social services:
Suite 100 Sheriff's Service Center 635-5213
Suite 200 One-Stop Careet Center 942-2165
Suite 300 Healthy Start/Birth & Beyond 851-1651
Suite 400 Women Infants and Children 638-7385
Suite 500 Computer Training Center 942-2165
I am honored to serve as the new RCNC Coordinator and have been fortunate to work with Cathi Aurich as my temporary Administrative Assistant. Cathi will be moving into a different position in November and we will be in the process of searching for her replacement.
Within the next month we hope to have installed an information counter at the entry to the center. From this location we can better greet and orient customers as well as provide needed resource and referral information. We are extremely thankful to teh Americorp team who will provide staffing.
Community rooms are heavily utilized and we now have a new and matching furniture. Helping to identify the RCNC to the community, signage for outside the building is in the final stages of approval with installation planned in November.
We are pleased to announce that Katie Danner Demmin, an Early Childhood Development Specialist, has been hired to coordinate the RCNC Playcare, a facility designed to eventually provide drop-in day care for customers utilizing RCNC services. The playcare room is nearly completed, we simply await staffing.
On November 7th from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm we will be hosting an RCNC Fall Services Fair with representatives from a variety of our partners including: UCD Clinic on Wheels; Birth & Beyond; Healthy Start; One Stop Career Center; Sheriff's Service Center; Community Collaborative; For Youth By Youth; and Women's, Infants, and Children. Please join us for a fun and informational day.
For information regarding the RCNC please feel free to contact either the deaprtment in which you are interested or call me directly at 716-1503 and I would welcome the opportuniy of speaking with you.
