  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor

We must not be invisible, powerless or seemingly uncaring, as violence and destruction preys upon our communities.  The South side of Chicago is becoming a battlefield for the survival of good communities. The Roseland Heights Community Association tied black and green ribbons on trees standing tall and strong, just as we must stand strong with integrity.  We took action by publicly participating in our “unity” against this madness and mayhem of social ills.  We chose not to ignore the ills we see, leaving them to others to handle our problem.  Our murdered children and the young police officer’s death will be in vain, if we remain inactive.  There will be more blood.  The “red” ribbon representing bloodshed was not our choice for our community, nor  in remaining  silent, giving permission to those who will destroy our neighborhoods and rob us of our quality of life.  The Roseland Heights Community Association “marked” our community boundaries with a renewal of hope and courage for a growing, healthy future.   As a community, we have “voice” and can use the resources we do have to help ourselves.  What we do should matter. We are a working people. good. strong of heart.  We wanted to remind everyone that as caring people, together, we can and must move forward.  The black and green is to serve as inspiration to do the very best we can as stakeholders.
