On Thursday afternoon I found one of my dogs dead in my backyard.  I believe he was bitten by a snake. I am posting this as a reminder so that everyone will be mindful of the fact that there are several types of poisonous snakes in our neighborhood.  Thank goodness it was only a dog and not a person.

Thanks, Shawn

most likely a rattlesnake - i caught one in my backyard a few months back - gimme a call if you see a snake and i will come remove it for you

Oh dear Shawn that is so sad. I am sorry to hear that.

I have removed six snakes from our backyard already this spring/summer. Five rat snakes and one rattlesnake. Our kids are scared to go out there now.

i am new to this site and stumbled across it looking for info on snakes in the area. my home backs up to coral creek with a border of jones swamp creek. ive been told there is a huge snake problem in the area and by the above post guessing thats true. before we purchased we did cross a rather large snake by the creek thinking water moccasin. guess you will be seeing post as the summer comes on. Undecided
