Parker Community Center

Posted in: Cottonwood
Can you believe that the Town Council received a $10,000 grant to study feasibility of preserving the Parker Community Center, & returned it? This was built by town volunteers in 1950, is one of the largest Quonset structures in Co, and was the biggest building between Denver & Colorado Springs when built in 1950. And they want to tear it down without even studying possible uses. Where are our kids going to go for indoor sports in the winter? How many other uses will be lost? Don't we care about our history? Sign the petition this weekend, and let our Council Members understand this error, Please?

100yrold tree just east cutdown!

Mainstreet's huge old tree at the historic Rhode Island building east of Community Center will be cut down 8/25/01 (Saturday)because it doesn't fit in the maintenance plans for the Town of Parker! Sounds like the easiest thing and cheapest thing to do! It was a huge landmark for Parker worth saving. Only public outrage can save it now!
