The Colorado State constitution itself is modeled for pro growth but I never felt it was the intent of it. Economic development is heralded as the mechanism that supports or health, safety and general welfare. The problem is in the constitution itself. Also, it is created under the misguided belief that local governments can better manage its population and their needs at a local level rather then a state level. I see this as problem number 2. It should read, that state government has a responsibility to protect the population as a whole and therefore should incorporate mandatory, not ADVISORY, standards.

Whether you are state statute or home rule charter ruled, go ahead and call around about an issue and see how much garbage you go through. I have gotten into some pretty good discussions with some entities that feel they do not have to talk to me because I am not an elected official. Then I have to remind them that I am a taxpayer which stands BEFORE the elected officials and that I indirectly pay their salaries. Then after all that crap, I still get the run around. What a mess!

Well i guess I was referring to both BF, Westy and the surrounding towns. I DID NOT like Westy's CC, i'm hoping with Ed Moss being on there now, we have someone that will listen to the citizens. All Nancy Heil thinks about is herself, that was very obvious when they had that "debate" before the election. We don't go to the Westy mall much anymore, the is NO PLACE to eat really and the only places I do like is Mervyn's and Wards. This may not be a nice thing to say, but it would serve them right if BF's new mall takes away their business, I may go there, simply because it is closer and I wouldn't have to fight traffic getting there. It is true that Westy doesn't have much for buinesses, if you need something you can't find it here, you go to the other towns. There will be a new home depot off of 88th, but who know when it will be done. That shoping center off of Wadsworth where Builder's Square was is all empty, with the exeption of maybe two stores, even Discovery Zone is gone now. Oh, and don't even get me started on Church Ranch, its a mess!!

Hi to All

Hey, I made it to my AZ destination just a bit ago. My sons have this high speed machine that makes mine look pathetic. It downloads these postings in about 10 nanoseconds (no, REALLY). So I had to try it out.

Cheryl, I'm with you on the Westminster mall. Well maybe my thoughts are more extreme: I think an army of buldozers would be the best thing for that place - I've always thought it was trashy. When I HAVE to go in (ick) I drive around for 20 minutes looking for a place to park, squeeze through the multitude of 14 year old mothers pushing strollers, and walk the mile and a half it takes to cross the stupid thing. It's not a place adults feel comfortable and it's no credit to our city (in my opinion). I know it brings in a lot of revenue - But I wish they'd level it and find something better. And, YES, I think a high tech business at that location would be a vast improvement.

Br Anon, thankyou for bringing up some of the problems with Westminster's city record. We can't change what they've done in the past, but we can affect what they do in the future. I'm working on an idea and would love input from interested people. I'm thinking of a newsletter that discusses the current actions and issues before our CC - presenting details of all perspectives. At first I was thinking of something to post on a web site and maybe distribute to those interested. But someone recommended working it into the Westminster Window. I'll be pursuing that when I'm back in town and can get an appointment to talk with someone there about it.

Cheryl, I think you would be an excellent person to work on this ... what do you think?

To WW and all

It is Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful holiday; list your gratitudes; and worry about the politics of local governments after the family, and gratitudes of life.
