1988: Vote on Northwest Parkway was 3 to 1 against; inclusive of all communities involved Golden-Broomfield.
THis information is on line under GO express search; I entered Broomfield County, Northwest Parkway.

As for the history: In the March 5, 1998 issue of the Enterprise, Berens announced the donation of one million from an anonymous source to study the parkway for private funding. Here he states the intention to look for private funds; the key being it would not be taxpayers; therefore zero taxes. States that with Sun and Level 3; it was imperative to get a direct route to DIA. Also, states Broomfield left the DRCOG; decides to pursue this alone because Jeffco is having difficulty resolving land-use probems south of the 96th interchange. Also states that the vote (in 89) was different because it would have required the tax increase and required all new roads; whereas this parkway will use some existing roads. Surfacing again in May; and recapped later; Interlocken is named as the source of monies; and the Northwest Parkway Project, a non-profit group is formed. It is interesting that Berens states this will have a short life; and another coporation will be formed within the year. That new corporation was NOrthwest Parkway Authority; replacing the Northwest Parkway Project, Inc. IT was formed this year. And no, there was not a resolution as this is a non-profit corporation.

Great!! I hope you are able to use those search engines; if not let me know and we can work a way to get you the information. I like these because you can put in Broomfield County Northwest Parkway; and the information references do not require a lot of sorting. Keep in touch. I do believe this is why we did not try to annex into Boulder County; I believe it would take one city; one county to form a parkway in the way that Broomfield is doing it.
