Amplified Noise Ordinance

Posted in: Montgomery Area

booming speakers for hours. vibrating peoples homes at all hours of the day just because you think youre cool with oversized speakers..you deserve a ticket.there is no need for people 8 miles away to hear thump thump..where i live its common place to have morons drive thru at late hours with their music thumping.loud..mowing a lawn isnt as noisy..certain noises that are reasonable like construction.trucks unloading are nothing..thumping noise because you think youre cool and the whole world should be made aware of it..is the level of ignorance that needs a ticket

This law is absolutely outrageous.

This law is particularly egregious if you have enough intelligence to understand science. 75 decibels is almost nothing; A coverasation loud enough to take place from more than 3 feet away is loud enough to be considered a disruptive noise by this ordinance.

If voters were getting an actual education rather than a diploma from the public institute of idiocy ( I.E. our public schools, ) they would know better than to accept this ridiculously low threshhold.

This ordinance is built for selective enforcement and binging people the neighborhood or cops just don't like. That's what's most offensive about these laws: They don't target people who are actually causing real problems. They are in practice, by unintended consequence or not, mainly used by vengeful and bitter people against individuals who have done nothing wrong.

As evidence, read the rest of this thread as I have: You will recall upon doing so that tons and tons of examples were mentioned where people actually causing loud disturbing noises are not approached or addressed by the police. The cops are either too lazy or too disinterested in approaching someone about the ordinance if the complaint doesn't involve someone they know (favoritism) or someone they dislike (selective enforcement).

Or, as I'm sure is the case at least some of the time, they are simply too cowardly to go after the more dangerous and radical offenders. One such situation was mentioned here already. This is like unto traffic law, in which those who are speeding at the lowest speed are caught first but those speeding at the highest speed cost too many resources and risks, whether fairly or unfairly, to enforce the law against them first. This basically encourages people who are going to speed to do so at the highest speed they can safely do so. In the same manner, this sound law encourages bad neighbors to behave as intimidating and thuggish as possible in order to avoid being targeted for enforcement.

Welcome to America in in the 2000s, folks. Those who know nothing and have no common sense now run everything.

you may want to read the ordinance again a little more carefully.  There are time restrictions mentioned. I'm pretty sure no one will be mowing their lawns between the hours of 1000pm to 7am.  I'm also willing to bet it'd be quite difficult to remodel/reshingle a house in the dark. Playing music is everyone's god given right, but if you're going to be in your back yard at 3am with a music system turned up full blast, guaranteeing that your music can be heard from the next town, then I personally believe you should be shot, but since I don't make the rules I guess a fine will have to do.
