Another Break-in

Posted in: Hamilton Highlands

How are the people that post these notices of break ins finding out the streets they are on ? It just is odd that the same person is reporting them on different streets ? Do we have a neighborhood watch block program ? Maybe we should organize a meeting. This is crazy to be going on and it has to be someone in the neighborhood or someone that watches the area. We have too nice of a neighborhood for this to be happening !!! Do not mean to offend whoever is reporting this either, so please do not take it the wrong way ? It is a question.

No offense taken! Smile I hear it from other neighbors or I look at the local police reports for out area. It's public records so anyone can see them. I agree that I think it's either someone in the neighbored or that lives near by. More than likely it's someone in our neighbor hood juding by the times of the break-ins. I may be wrong though. I think there should be a meeting set up also because this is getting crazy. We have children that live in this neighbor hood and we should feel safe here.

I have also been posting break-ins on the website.  Don't worry, no offense taken.  I hear about them from neighbors.  I also check the crime reports on-line.  I added a link to our website.  From our home page, go down to the Police & Safety section and click on Columbus Crime Reports.  The site is really informative.  It tells you what street, type of offense, time occurred or reported and also shows a map of the area.  We are a Block Watch community.  The original 10-12 homeowners in the community had to attend a series of meetings, meet with police etc. to attain that status.  It's very unfortunate that we have had such a rash of crime in our neighborhood, which appears to be since the first of the year.  I agree that it is being done by parties that are familiar with our community since they seem to know when people are not home.  Hopefully, we will find out who is doing this & put a stop to it.

I as a neighbor in a community of recent crime, doesn't care WHO informs us, as long as some one does! So, instead of worrying about that issue, let's worry WHO the theives are. And we need to know what we can do to watch out for each other. "IF" it's a neighbor doing the crime, Id think it would be easy to catch them, if we keep our eyes open ANNNNND, report ANYTHING we think strange or different. If you're like our section of the community, we sort of know when there should be NO ONE around our home, or garages. So therefore Id call police if I saw or heard anything going on after neighbor left. If it's a wasted trip for an officer, sorry, but I pay taxes. Keep us informed, & again, watch out for one another.
