Recent Crime in the Neighborhood

Posted in: Midtown Brandywine

All,

It has been brought to my attention that there have been a few cars broken into in the Midtown Brandywine.

In my conversations with Captain Nancy Dietz (our WPD liason), I have learned that the fall is prime time for crime rates to spike.  Perps are less conspicuous (than in the summer) while wearing large coats to hide the stolen merchandise, etc.

I encourage all of us to pay additional attention to what we leave in our cars- Ex: if you have an iPod, don't just take the unit into the house with you, take all the wires... as that is what the perps will be looking for.

Let's remember to adjust the timers on our outdoor lights, not that it is getting dark earlier.

Captain Dietz has assured me we live in a very safe neighborhood and normally crimes in our area are carried out by one person, so once we catch the individual, the crime stops.  Please keep your eyes open and call WPD if there is anything/anyone that looks suspicious.

Thanks,

Dan- Your Crime Committee Chairman

It would be helpful if more people left their front lights on at night.  Two of the break ins were on my street which is very dark.  My house if the only one with lights on at night.  I have to think that if we all had our lights on, the perp may have gone to another location.
