It was my home that was broken into. I don't work and my schedule is not too predictable. I could have easly walked in on the robbery in progress. The lock on the back door was easily forced. (I knew it wasn't really secure, but had a false sense of security). I think the robbers are experienced in that they seem to have a "shopping list" that allows them to get in and out in a hurry. There was no evidence that they were stopping to look for just anything of value. They grabbed the flat screen TV, laptop computer, and any jewelry that sparkled. They also grabbed an extra set of keys that were sitting out.
My daughter walks a lot through the neighborhood and had noticed a man sitting in a white van at a couple of different locations. It was odd enough to get her attention. Now she wishes she had gotten a license number. It may not be related to my robbery, but it could be.
Yes, I have now had all my locks changed and will be diligent in protecting my home.
