I don't know, but maybe Melissa has started a more productive HOA website, so they can focus on more important issues like and invisible fence, or oh yeah lets not forget the ever important arrival of the Easter Bunny to the Trails.(what could I have been thinking!)

You know you are probably right in saying it will take some sort of shooting for the police to take notice that our neighborhood is not safe...whether it come from the crazy man at the end of San Joaquin or a resident shooting an intruder.  And it really should not come to that.  We should have adequate patrol in our neighborhood at all times of the day!  Also,  I know that what we will here from the HOA is to volunteer....well,  sorry but most of us work during the day and that is when people need to patrol.  So,  if there are any neighbors home during the day,  please join the COP program and get your CWL.   I know people are getting nervous.  It doesn't help when the resident at the end of the street keeps calling the cops non-stop and makes himself nervous.  It's like a ticking time bomb - pulling guns on innocent people.  I have heard that he has pulled it on others as well - of course - didn't know that until after he pulled it on my daughter.  Also heard he comes out yelling at folks parking at the end of the street.  Honestly,  this man needs to not concern himself with the trails.  He does not own them.  I don't understand his cause.  WHAT IS THE CAUSE???  WHY DO YOU CONCERN YOURSELF WITH SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU OR CAUSE YOU HARM???? ARE YOU GETTING A KICK BACK FOR EVERY CITATION THAT IS ISSUED????  WHY ARE THE POLICE MORE INTERESTED IN ARRESTING PEOPLE IN THE TRAILS THAN PROTECTING OUR HOMES???  WHO CAN WE CONTACT TO START GETTING SOME ANSWERS????  OBVIOUSLY WE ARE NOT GOING TO GET ANY HELP FROM THE SILENT HOA AND THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SHOULD BE HANDLING AND ADDRESSING THESE QUESTIONS.   Ok,  stepping off my soap box.  Phew,  I tired now.   Frown

Granted, one would think the corpse of an intruder would be a sufficient deterrent to future incidents...but I dont think ANY of us want it to go that far. I cant help but think just how quickly last years vandalism came to a screeching halt after the police showed up, the press showed up and one of our residents got injured.

All I can suggest at this point is:

1) Call the police for ANYTHING unusual...strange cars, strange people, strange noises, vandalism...GET INCIDENTS ON RECORD

2) Use a bit of common sence and protect yourslves. Lock doors, close garages, lock cars, etc...the more obstacles you put in place for a theif, the sooner he will go away and look for easier targets.

3) Look out for yourselves and your neighbors. We all have to live here. if you can take a simple step to protect you neighbor, you just might be protecting yourself too.

4) Dont open you doors to just anybody. These days TRY and show me someone who doesnt have a cell phone to call for help on thier own...this is where the common sence thing comes into play.

DONT ALLOW YOURSELF OR A NEIGHBOR TO BE A VICTIM!

Great advice!  I've always taught my child not to answer the door when home alone after school.  But now after last week, we will not hesitate to set our new alarm system and I now own a hand gun ~ Lesson learned after attempted burglary, I will shoot! Unfortunately it's come to this!
