its a crying shame that we have to put up with this kind of going ons in our neighborhood. i've lived here for 47yrs. ever since the city of tampa closed the projects. this neighborhood has been bomb barted with all the garbage that the tampa housing authority had to relocate on section 8. heres the phone # 555-1269 to file any complaint or to see if the property is under t.h.a.  i know of nune of these propertys in carrollwood, and all of the other uppty, uppty neighborhoods, whats up with that?  anit u tell, i'm pissed

Thanks for your post, Guard Dog62. Thanks also for that phone number in your post.

I'm not worried about people's income level or where they come from, but  people need to respect the neighborhood they live in. And their visitors need to respect the neighborhood they are visiting. Trashing their property, kicking out fast food cups when they exit their vehicles without picking them up & throwing them in the trash, reckless driving, loud noise -- including boom boxes on wheels which bass so loud they rattle the windows -- is totally uncalled for; it is "in your face" to the other residents. Did you know that 2 years ago the City of Tampa passed a change to the noise ordinance that lowers the audible distance from 50 feet to 25 feet? That means that if a car radio can be heard more than 25 feet from that car, the driver is in violation of the noise ordinance. I wish that ordinance was enforced more.

Carrollwood & the other more affluent areas aren't crime free, by a long shot. But they don't have nearly the problems that we have been experiencing here in Forest Hills, because they make their voices heard with city council. They get involved in their community & neighborhood. In Forest Hills, involvement has been sort of lax. But in recent months I've seen more people becoming involved again around here; I have seen a lot more people walking, picking up litter, and stepping out of their homes when they hear a car go by too fast or with a loud radio, and they are making notes of tag numbers, and the time of day/night it is happening & with what frequency (and apparently are phoning reports in to TPD, because I have noticed more police cruisers driving by within a short time of those incidents occurring). It's too bad it takes an experience with crime to get folks to pay attention, but once someone they know (or they) have such an experience, they tend to "wake up".
