Crittenton Family Services is a United Way Agency offering programs in four areas: behavioral health care, prevention, education and in-home services for families and individuals of all ages.
We offer adoption and foster care of infants and young children through national and international contacts.
We have a professional counseling and mental health care staff. Our parenting programs address effective parenting and problems encountered with children at different age levels.
Teen programs encourage healthy choices, examine behaviors and provide guidance with teen issues.
We work with other agencies to help individuals with mental health and or drug and alcohol problems.
Our in-home services can help strengthen families who are experiencing child abuse or neglect issues and we can help parents of young children establish home environments to encourage learning readiness. We assist families struggling with mental retardation and development disabilities.
We provide counseling, case management and socialization services to older adults.
Our Crittenton Center for Young Women provides a positive educational environment for young women having problems completing their education, including teen women who are pregnant or parenting.
Crittenton Family Services (CFS) has been providing services to Columbus and the Franklin County area since 1899. In that year, a small group of Columbus businessmen formed the ''Associated Charities'' with the purpose of directing public attention to the administration of municipal charities and to coordinate all the charitable organizations in the city.
In the beginning services were relief, flood help and housing. Gradually the program base grew to include family assistance and case work. Over time, the emphasis changed from charitable relief to social work. As the method and emphasis of Human Services evolved, so did the agency's programs. Through several name changes and two mergers, the agency gradually came to focus on strengthen-ing family life.
Crittenton, in cooperation with other community resources, strives to enhance the family unit, no matter its structure, to flourish to its full potential.
Crittenton Family Services is a member of the Alliance for Children and Families, the Child Welfare League of America and the Family Service Council of Ohio. In addition, the agency is licensed or certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Human Services, The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, and the Council on Accreditation of Services to Children and Families.
