Subject: Home Burglary Alarms
Hello Groups,
I was asked by the District Two Shift commander to get a message out to residents who have Alarm systems on their homes.
The Lt stated that the number of home burglaries involving homes with alarm systems has increased these last 3 to 4 weeks. TPD is discovering that citizens are disabling their alarms systems, possibly due to the fear that the owner will be charged for a false alarm, especially during these daily thunder & lightening storms that our area has been experiencing. Please send the word out via your email trees that citizens should activate their alarms at all times - even during inclement weather. When officers respond to weather related false alarms, this information is documented, and our False Alarm Unit will usually waive the fees. If you receive a False Alarm Bill, and feel the charge may be related to weather conditions, please call our False Alarms Unit at 276-3296 or 276-3295.
Thank You
