Public Works Academy & Neighborhood Sweeps

Neighborhood Opportunities:
Public Works Academy & Neighborhood Sweeps Please contact Joleen Garcia (210-679-6506) if you are interested in the following neighborhood opportunities:

The Citizens Public WorksAcademy is a five-week program. Five two-hour sessions educate and empower citizens on the various functions of the Public Works Department and create a better understanding of the processes. The program, including site visits, focuses on the following areas: Capital Improvements, Customer Service, Street Maintenance, Stormwater Utility, and the Transportation Group. Residents are nominated by the City Council Office.

Your area can apply for a Neighborhood Sweep, which concentrates city services (e.g. Public Works, Community Initiatives, Environmental, SAPD, etc.) in your target area to help address concerns in your community. Two areas within District 6 will qualify each year for a Neighborhood Sweep. To find out more about the application process, please have a neighborhood representative call Joleen at 679-6506 or send an email to jgarcia4@sanantonio.gov .
