January is expected to be the first and last meeting for 2000. Colette has been teaching on Thursdays and will not be able to chair these meetings for the rest of the academic year.
It was revealed at this meeting neighborhoods need constant care to avoid negative impacts from the K-Mart Development. Councilmember Kell noted that she is working with the City Attorney to make the developer follow the binding contract with the contractor related to impacts on our neighborhoods. Our city is responsible for removing the conditional permit should problems (such as light pollution) damage our quality of life.
Councilmember Kell noted that she wants residents to inform her by calling her office whenever a late night flight occurs or trucks are driving through our neighborhoods (570-6932). It is recommended that photos of license plates be taken when illegal traffic is on our streets. Please keep a record of these calls so we can work with our councilmember to fine and work with our city attorney to stop activities that are damaging our quality of life. It is nice to know that our taxes are being used to help our neighborhoods.
