(Jim Newell) The university will be working on two projects this summer north of the railroad tracks. At the end of McAllister ASU has demolished the basketball, handball, and volleyball courts and expanded the parking lot to accommodate 238 parking spaces. They have upgraded the lighting and reconfigured the tall chain link fences into one continuous fence along their southern property line.
The second project located south of Apache Blvd is a $10 million public/private partnership to provide ?“cluster-housing?” dormitory spaces. The university intends the new hall to be ?“designed with sensitivity to the low-density residential neighborhood located to the south?”.
