I think the fountains are a great idea even just on aesthetic value alone.

You mentioned a compromise? Sounds like there may have been a pretty good debate on the subject.

Financial burdens? I like to think I'm paying the HOA all that money to do more than mow the grass and buy signs. What financial ''concerns'' do we have and which are financial ''burdens''?

Last I heard we had a boatload of money sitting in the bank doing nothing but earning interest. Unfortunately, it has probably been a year since I've seen anything comprehensive. I think it was when we took control of the HOA. I'd like to see more.

I'd also like to see my money being used to beautify the neighborhood and make it safe, as I'm sure we all would.

I would like to see the Homeowners association develop a master plan which would encompass several beautification projects as well as maintenance projects. While we may have money sitting in the account now, there isn't much in the reserve account for emergency cases and as far as know there are no plans to add to that fund now that all homes are built ($80 was contributed at the sale of each home). In addition, with the hiring of a new management team, those costs just doubled. If we spent money to develop a couple of master plans to be voted on by the whole community it would save a lot of time and debate over every issue that comes up. Others might prefer beautication by adding plants, walking paths, sitting areas as opposed to fountains which require more money to maintain. I strongly believe we should develop a masterplan for the community.

Me and my ignorance are asking why we need to pay someone to develop a master plan?

Fountain Fever

While I am not completely opposed to fountains, I think a web straw poll is not the way to take the temperature of the community regarding this additional expense. I can see some wanting to keep the natural beauty of the other pond; some may want to fish there and the fountains may deter from it...etc. So, my point is that we should not invest in anything without considering the community as a whole and receiving feedback from a whole lot of folks. A whole lot more than come to this web site. Why not have a quarterly community meeting to discuss these types of expenditures? It may be fountain fever today, but what's next?
