David Street Block Club General Meeting

The David Street Block Club, Inc. held a general meeting at the home of John and Sonja
Lindsey at 1528 David St. on February 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Treasurer Elbert Rich, Jr..
The opening prayer was lead by Delores Casey at 11:10 a.m..
Speaker:
Our speakers were Aaron Patterson and Willie Boyd Jr. of the Assessor?’s Office. They
represented Rita Clark of the Shelby County Assessor?’s Office. They spoke about the
time line in which to appeal your assessment. You may appeal from May 1st to July 27th.
Mr. Boyd stated that you can call and ask questions about your property taxes from 8:00
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can also go to the website and it will tell you anything you need to
about your taxes. They also advised how to have a Code Enforcer to come out and check
for permits. The group asked questions about Tax Relief for seniors.
The minutes from the January 8, 2005 meeting were tabled until the next meeting due to
them being misplaced.
Financial Report:
The financial report was read by Treasurer Elbert Rich, Jr. read. He stated that we had
$957.54 in the bank. Ms. Casey moved that the report be accepted as read. The motion
was second by Ms. Harris. The motion was passed by a unanimous vote.
Ms. Casey attended the BCNA Breakfast which was held on 2/8/05.
Mr. Rich talked about the logo contest. We are still trying to come up with a logo so we
can get t-shirts made. We will have a cleanup for David Street with the Hands On
Memphis team. We will spray to kill the grass along the curbside.
President Lindsey read the neighborhood mail that was received. We had refreshments
provided by Mr. Lindsey.
Dues were paid by: Ms. Porter, Opal Harris, Troy Miller, George Crews, and Wendell
Jeffery.

Sick and Shut In: Delores Evans, Wilma Thompson, Dorothy Tibbs.

The closing prayer was given by Ms. Casey. The meeting was adjourned by the President
Sonja Lindsey at 1:06 p.m.
