I grew up in the French Quarter - I went to School at McDonogh #15. I visited N.O from NY in May - and was saddened to see that Cabrini Park had become a dog park. Bruce Brice's spectacular mural has been painted over, all the playground equiptment and basketball hoops have been removed and the wading pool has been turned into a planter. There are no playgtounds in this area anymore for the chldren of the Treme and Quarter! This park is still in use by the children of McDonogh #15 and they have to deal with dog poop and gutter punks. Does anyone in N.O care that poor downtown kids have no place to play? Or is it OK so long as YOU have a place to run your dogs?
I live in Brooklyn now, which ain't too rich - and there are 6 playgrounds within a 10 block radius of my house.
