I definately think that this is a wonderful way to keep the neighborhood picked up and to give the kids something to be proud of. We will have to make sure that the parents are contacted so they know where their kids are and to get their permission. Would we need any sort of paper stating that we are not responsible for injuries, because we would be cleaning close to the street. We will need several adults to help with the cleanup and to supervise the kids.

On this website their is a link to the Muncie Sanitary Department. On their site you can order coupons for recycle bags. You are allowed to order them twice per month. I think that we should look into either ordering coupons for homes or encouraging our neighbors to do so. Perhaps we could use fliers to let people know that free recycle bags are available and instructions for there use. I think that this flier would be a good way to address some of the trash concerns in a friendly and inviting way. Rather than complaining about a persons trash, we could offer resources for coupons and help get toters to people that need them. Let me know when you are interested in meeting about the trash committee.

who knew trash could bring so many neighbors together!! bella - you are a gold mine of ideas, I really like offering people resources, help them help themselves. I also think that before we bring in kids the adults need to organized. I think Stef mentioned neighborhood trash containers once, hanging on the light posts... perhaps the trash committee could test these ideas out simultanisously on different streets??
do you have a committee meeting set up yet?
