Special assessment

I would like to hear what people think about this proposed special assessment. There are so many units for sale it can't be good for our property values. In addition, we just had a 41 dollar increase on our monthly dues this year. Where is all this money going? I know there are reports etc. However it just seems odd to me that I saw no increase and then my dues took two significant jumps and I got hit with a $1000 special assessment. I bought in 98 with dues of 127 and now 7 short years later my bill reads 197 and my pocket book is already $1000 lighter. With this insanity no wonder people are trying to get out.

What does the Board and LCM Property management really plan to do with the $600,000 they are asking!!?? Line the pockets of the board or the property manager - since there are FEW visible signs of any improvements in this HOA, I do not believe that they can legally do what they are saying. Check your bylaws and rules and declarations - find out what is legal before you let people run over you and pay the money just because you think you should. We need some legal recourse. Maybe the board or the property management company should either be sued or replaced -- now -- not later. We need to unite so we won't have to put up with this kind of strong-arming to get money which we as homeowners may not be willing to put up. What do you think? You only have until June 1st to decide.
