Repeal Broomfield County

Voter apathy

It is a tough nut to crack... as far as citizens becoming informed and involved in their gov't.

Human nature: it is easier for citizens to let 'someone else do it'. A blind trust hands the responsibility over to others. Unfortunately, that opens the door to unscrupulous behavior.

While it is sad that so few question the shocking actions of the Broomfield city council, the greater crime is how the council so flagrantly took advantage of the citizens.

Elected officials are charged with the highest responsibility of working for the electorate's best interest. BFCC lost sight of that.

How do you motivate people? Unfortunately, in this community; it require a tragedy; something that no one can believe. The costs of the county are abhorrent; however, the city has presented this in a way that our pocket books will never feel the effect. This is the pity of the situation; our monies will be spent to repay the county costs; rather than to build this as an enviable community; one where such values as open space and homes live in harmony. The open space will become homes; and wildlife in its natural habitat will be visible in travelling petting zoos.
Apathy has a price; some of our council including the mayor, Cathy, and Linda, are determined to destroy this community. Imagine; fast food and offices at the library space. What an insult to the learning environment projected by the library building. Instead, they want to trash it up. We were told there would be public hearings; alas; they are already starting the building steps on the site. Why do people let themselves be treated as second-hand trash. Because our council lies; and lies, and lies. By the time the lie is caught; the damage is done. We are a slobbering community; no wonder Boulder dumped us in forming the county and in the court system. No one wants to be affiliated with liars.

Hello Kirk,

I recently learned of the fast food restaurants, et al from a friend there in Broomfield.

It is quite appalling how BFCC totally shuts out their citizens. And continually gets away with it.

They are creating such a mountain of debt for the citizens... Your home rule charter has provisions that is supposed to keep that in check and provide for citizen involvement, but your council thumbs their nose at it.

What do you think of Beren's latest gem: the toll HOV lanes for 36? My question is: what happened? Did Interlocken's deep pockets dry up? What happened to their pledge to take care of the needed infrastructure? Or maybe they've overspent already with the NWP.

FYI: I am in the Sierra/RCG area.

NWP

Ann,

When will the citizens in Broomfield stand up? They justify growth because if they do not develop then someone else will get it and make it worse. I have never once heard any council person say.
"Growth affects the well being of our citizens, therefore, we want this and this before we build." Staff has fed us so much bs. They say if we do not do it we will be sued by developers, what a lie, if you have enough people stand up and say we are not happy with this, the colorado constitution will protect us.

So now here is the NWP. It was recently discovered that there are all sorts of hidden taxes and other ways to shift sales tax money from the coming commercial that will pay for the road, yet are BF citizens are not told this. The worst part of all is that even though we residents will pay for this, we did not get to vote on it. Are we stupid or what?
