Add-A-Page

I have added two (2) pages to this site: Desert Harmony in Pictures and 2009 Federal Holidays. The first page, Desert Harmony in Pictures, was a page added that I felt some of the residents of Desert Harmony would enjoy. The second page, 2009 Federal Holidays, is a page I felt some of the residents would find useful. Both pages serve as an example of what things could be added to this site.

Add Your Own Personal Web Page

In addition the residents of Desert Harmony may add their own personal homepage to the site under the "Meet Your Neighbors" link. Residents of the Desert Harmony community can create and edit their own free Personal Pages, which are kept on the Neighborhood Links server -- or they can open a web page on another server on the web and "Hot Link" it to the Desert Harmony page. If you are interested in having your own page, please feel free to contact me for help. If time permits, I may create a file on how to create your own pages.

Adding Links

On the Desert Harmony page we can also add links to sites that are useful or important to the members of the Desert Harmony Community. I've added a few links that I felt were useful to others in this community, if you have any suggestions - let me know and we'll see about adding the links.

Fax Links

I am not sure what to do about the Fax Link section yet, perhaps a letter to Neighborhood Links telling them that the Fax Links would not be as useful as an E-Mail Links section may alter their basic site. Anyone reading this ought to have access to E-Mail, but they don't all have fax machines or programs. The most obvious links to put in a Fax Link or E-Mail Link would be for various places within our government, such as the White House or our local Representative. There may be other places where a Fax or E-Mail link would be useful to the majority of the community -- but I am not sure of what those places would be at this point in time.

Adding Community Leaders

The City of Mesa held meetings earlier in 2008 and at those meetings some names were collected for things like Community Leader. I don't have any list of names for any community leaders in the Desert Harmony community. I'll work on getting a list of names and information for such people in the future.

The Discussion Board

According to the FAQ, any posts marked "Desert Harmony" will appear first to those of us in the Desert Harmony community. The same goes for people of other communities, their community will show any posts marked with their community first. I am not sure I like that set up, but I can't change it. I suppose it is as good of a set up as any for it will show us our posts first and the posts from other communities second.

Some of us may be familiar with posting on Discussion Boards, others aren't. The main thing I stress is to remember that more people than we think sees our posts -- so be careful in what information you give out in your messages, especially when giving out personal information. You may even wish to get a GMail or Yahoo Email Address for your correspondence for the board.

Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is for many things that is of interest to our community. Meeting Dates and Times, Lost Pets and Yard Sales are just a few of the events to be posted in this area.

The Site in General

The Website, in general, hopefully will turn into a place where the residents of Desert Harmony go to in order to keep abreast of all sorts of information -- but to make it work really takes the work of the entire community. Residents should feel free to notify those responsible for running the site of upcoming events and information that will be useful and informative for the entire community... and this doesn't translate into any one resident needing to devote much time out of their busy schedule.
